We have also have an 03 malibu.
For the topic of free cars, I received an 88 corsica for free once, fixed a leaky gas line and used it for a Bush car up north, caught air and everything with that thing lol... put a dent the size of a basket ball in the oil pan and was still able to drive it home lol

This little car has really grown on me. I used to not like it too much. Now I do..
As to the free car.. was a 99 Volvo V70 XC. NICE color combo of Moondust and Black interior (Piano Black.) Car needed oil lines and was partially disassembled, an abandoned oil pan job.. Guy wanted $700, but when he saw my genuine love of the car and I told him about the ones I had previously, it became... free.
Got it towed, got oil issue resolved, drove it a long time. Wish I still had that car.
Of course, I have the Blazer now, but I drive the pictured one too.
Tom, was your Dakota a 5.9 "Niner?"

He came to his senses.... noticed how much the ford broke down on the road, and didnt want that to happen on the trail lol
