Default Tough little trucks

I still love my 99 lt. Yes I have completed enough repairs to pay for my mechanics ase certification, but it has heart and with and has never left me stranded.

I had to laugh yesterday because a 87 s10 out ran the police into the desert and actually got away. The folks driving it were copper theives so god knows that little truck most likely is lacking in service and repairs. But at 28 years old it out ran the cops and that is the s10 heart that I love so much.

Now with that said my boy should last for years to come. Believe it or not at this moment nothing is even leaking. :-)

Pressure tested today... cracked radiator top. Water pump looks close too, viewing weep hole w/a mirror. May as well do both at the same time, they both are stock and the truck has about 102k on it. Not sure how it wound up cracked...
Now I gotta do research for both parts.

I am not worried about being jinxed at this point. I have already replaced every part on the truck at least once, some twice now. The last two years have been expensive ones. I am back to almost having a new car warranty. :-).

To me its about how dammed difficult things are to get to and replace, theres no hand room.your better off removing the body off the frame if you have do any work on the drive train.Dont even mention how difficult the trans are to r&r on these things.Id rather scrap the vehicle than replace another trans on the 2cn gen Jimmy.

I love my 04 ZR2. (today, lol!) The only thing I HAD to replace was the TC shift motor. No biggie. No Complaints.

Take a good look at the driver's door hinges. There is a special pin and bushings upper and lower on each hinge. Maybe you'll be lucky! Anyway, they are tough to replace, but really cheap. Catch them before they go too far south, otherwise you'll be doing them all the time.

this is my 96 LT blazer [with the pooch] up in the boonies where I go a few times a week hiking and off roading.i like the fact that it is small so I can take it places it shouldnt go ..I have pounded the hell out of this thing for 6 years and it has been very reliable and is holding up well[so far] ..I have over the years replaced the fuel sender unit, radiator, fixed broken front sway bar, new shocks-all terrain 31s and 2in body lift, but it is mainly stock. I commute to work by motorcyle so I only use the blazer for off roading and 3 months winter commute....I liked the 4 runner but could only afford this ..im gonna keep this as long as I can till it blows up ..shes got 195000kms -is heavy and slow but I dig it..ZO13

ts the design of the engine that causes them to have a bad rep.the way the placed the oil filter being so far away from the engine. That and you have to places the engine was manufactured. Then the trasmissions are just built very weak unless you have the ZR2 package. The major flaw being the sunshell that's prone to shattering or cracking. If people would maintain them better they would last longer. It also depends on the year the 96 being the worst of them all.
