Your First Car

My first vehicle was a 1970 Chevy heavy half, half ton p/u truck. I bought it from my cousin and the guy he had bought it from had already done a bunch of work to it. It had real working dual hood scoops, '72 front clip, roll pans, shaved cab, lowered, suede interior with suede seats from a lincoln continental, Western Wheels rims with 255/60/15 tires in front and 295/60/15 rear, 350 engine and trans with posi, and was painted 1979 Ford green. A darker, rich green with metal flake.
When I had bought it the truck has sat for around 5 years. It started without much issue but the engine didn't last long as it spun 7 out of the 8 rod bearings. The old man was good at engines and we took the block to have it cleaned and checked. The machine shop had a stroker kit for sale at cost so we nabbed that up and had them install it. Cylinders were shot too so it got bored out .060 over and by the time it was all said and done I had a 388 stroker for the truck.
It was fun, mean and a great learning experience. I still have it, though it's rotting away peacefully behind one of the barns. I'll see if I can find the pics of it in it's glory days. It's got dents in the bottom of the bed where it twisted the yoke on the hog head into two pieces and I still have a city cop who chats with me every time he sees me about that truck and the fun we had with it and his police car(long story).

I was working as a stockboy in a liquor store (pretty badass right?) and one of our regulars came in talking about how the timing chain needed to be replaced in her car and she didn't want to fix it. I talked to my dad and we bought the car for $50. It sat for about 6 months until I had the money to get the chain fixed. Besides the rusty body and sagging headliner, I loved this damn car! It was pretty much just like the picture, except with the partial vinyl top over the back seats. Also the color was reversed, it was a dark brown on top with a light brown on the bottom.

the first thing i drove was a 1969elcamino with a repalcement 350 small block and auto 4 speed tranny. need less to say it didnt take long for my father andi to convertit to a manual 3 spped race ready tranny and beef up the 350 and putt a custom exaust with manually opperated exaust cutouts and we lowered it 2 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear and we are still waiting on the new fasteners for the front clip so we ca throw it back to gether and lash the valves and start her up but thats the first thing i ever drove ill have pics soon.
