91 front axle removal question

91 front axle removal question
ive been told that theres threads already about this but cant seem to find them i have a 91 and i lowered cause i already knew the front axle never engaged when out in to 4wd and i was wondering if i could take the half shafts out and the housing with out my tires falling off lol ive heard it can be done just want to make sure thanks
