those are some nice looking wheels, a lil more lip would be nice but then im sure fitment would start to be an issue. i thought about getting a stock set off craigslist and then just coating them black but i dont want the whole big n lil wheels look....same size all around so i can still rotate them.

thanks for the link, but yea those are the style i was looking at, i think the newer vette has something similar to the fr500 wheels and i love the look of those.

Typhoon owners know... It's the handling. I don't plan on using mines off road nor do I like the ugly stance it had. IMO lowering it (not slamming) is a great way to get a muscle/sport truck stance while improving handling and the 4wd is still functional.
apples to oranges brother, apples to oranges.

unless you plan on changing the t-case, it ain't gonna be the same.

and i'm not talkin' about the lack of power.

That's true! The Awd and short wheel base does have quite an advantage. Still with me being a somewhat spirited driver, lowering the front so far has made a difference I can definitely tell. I doubt I will take it down to where most do, though. Maybe a 2/2 if that much.... Right now I have pretty much settled on going with some vette wheels with 245/55-18's all around. Not too trendy and definitely not donked.

I did think about lifting it but I'd rather have a 2nd gen if I did. They look so much better than 1st gens when lifted. Something about the round bodies with the tall bulging tires just fits better than the boxy style. 1st gens IMO look good with some lipped vette wheels (no 20's!!) in a old muscle truck stance. Kinda gives it a mean street look if that makes any sense. Plus I'm 40, so I would look kind of foolish rolling around on rubber bands or dropped to the ground! LOL

yes the AWD t-case is the key to having a similar driving experience, but a 4 door isn't gonna handle too much different. in fact, if you set the truck up right, it's gonna be just as good.

bah!!

you're only slightly older than me, and my 'Burb is gonna be rollin' down @ the same level as my LB was in the spring. (probably a little lower )

this was taken moments after it was finished (took about 4 hours total). that included welding in the massive c-notch, and setting the pinion angle & new perches.

the fender lip actually covered the edge of the lettering after week of driving. (the truck settled about another 1")

Nice stance on both trucks. I'm really digging the S10! Beautiful! That's pretty much the same color scheme I want on mines. Can't make up my mind on wheels though. Shying away from chrome, but not totally. Just don't want the wheels to stand out more than the paint. Man.... that S10 has got the look! Really sharp!!! I want just bit more height with a slight rake and some meatier tires.

thanks Ash, that's my younger brother's '83 Dime.

you're right in wanting to get the same size wheels/tires all the way around, which is what he did. as for not wanting too much "bling" , you can get wheels like he did, with a painted ceter section, and a polished lip (non-clear coated).

but you won't find his wheels anywhere, they're a one-off.

Chris, you know why we lower the 4wd's, at least in my neck of the world, it's all you can find! I looked for almost 2 years and never could find a 2wd that wasn't completly trashed and ready to fall apart at the hands of a evil non maintance performing owner.

I still keep an eye out and I'll see 20-30 4wd blazers a day, no joke. But I have only seen maybe 10 2wd's around here, period. I think 3 of em' were first gens. I thought it would be cool to have a lowered 1st gen on 20-22 inch rims in the summer and 215-75-15 super swamper radials in the winter, .

Same here..... I've seen some 2wd's but either they're not letting go of them or the truck is not worth the work. Plenty of 2nd gens, but I'm particularly fond of 1st gens.

I've only seen a couple of 1st gens fixed up around here and I must say there was no justice for the poor vehicles. Either wheels were too big, tucked too far in, or stuck way out. Here in Panama City, everybody and their mom rolls on 20's or bigger and it's mostly the latter. They lift the car to fit a bigger wheel/tire combo rather than lower it a inch or two to get rid of the fender gap on a non-donk setup.

I want a classy look, not trendy.

I plan on lowering my 4x4 because i already have a jeep so this blazer won't compare off road, but on page one there were 2 pics of stangs blazer and I was wondering how much drop that is, and whether or not u used drop keys on the front?

Thanks
