sounds like a project for spring then, since I will be getting an alignment and new tires then. But I heard the issue with cranking the torsion bar up is everything wears out faster in the front. Hence why I want to try and lower the rear end.

It'll wear faster if you crank it for a lift, sure. If you do it just to level everything out you'll be fine.

It is a 4x4. And 1-2 inches should work fine. I would think that would be enough to handle curves and corners better (even though it does an amazing job now) and not plow snow with my front bumper. It is a hope that I can add the 16" Extreme rims to this without running into height issues. Hence why I want to level it out first, and see how much I can lower it after.
Im still driving on stock ride height, and i have not encountered any problems while driving. they actually made the truck handle a little better. But i cant tell you for sure if u will encounter rubbing problems with the drop and wheels |
I have been doing some reading in the suspension part of the forum and I guess it is normal for the rear end to be a little higher than the front and the ride is still level. I am going to have the suspension looked over by my new mechanic and make sure everything is good; if it is, then I think I might leave the ride height alone...not sure yet. I also am looking at other possible rims. The xtreme rims are nice, but I want to keep my options open right now.

Look at my pictures in my album I lowered mine 4 and 1/2 rear and 3 in the front and on 18's and it sat level keep in mind though mine is 2wd. On any vehicle when you lower a vehicle you drop the rear more then the front always hence drop kits like 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and so on so that the rear sits level with the front on yours just put a 2 inch drop block in the rear with near u-bolts and call it a day. That will give you a level situation and give it the appearance of being lowered when all you did was level out the rear with the front that way nothing gets wore out fast in the front and rear.
