Default 1984 Military Blazer

Hello ! I own a 1984 military blazer and I am wondering if anyone else out there has something similar.

My truck has a lot of body rot, in fact I've completely removed the running boards and have decided to rivet sheet metal to some of the other holes.

What has anyone else done to combat body rot ? The diesel engine isn't going to quit anytime soon and I'd like the body to live a little longer, too.
