Thanks for the welcomes. The Blazer is going into the mechanic shop this coming Friday for a transmission rebuild. Hopefully all goes well with it, I'll consider making a build thread soon since I have a few mods in plan for it.

I went to get a quote today with a mechanic i had previously gotten work from on another vehicle. I was quoted $400 for a transmission change including transmission core and labor. The mechanic said that the transmission is likely burned out and that the transfer case will likely not need any work except bearings or something like that. It is going into the shop tomorrow so hopefully I can have a running blazer soon. I live 1 mile from the border so I get most of my mechanic jobs done south of the border for cheap price.

yea, I lived in Chicago for a few years and I know what prices are in the states which is why I always do this type of work in MExico. This is a reliable shop, I used to own a 97 Mecury Tracer and its tranmission blew out this was around 2002 and I took it to that shop and got it fixed for about the same price he is charging now, the warranty is given by the recycler where they get the core and I think I got like a 3 month warranty on labor last time I went to him. He also gave me all paperwork needed for the Mexican customs which is very handy. Thanks for the heads up though.

Ran into some problems getting a tow dolly rented because it was going to be taken into Mexico so I couldnt bring it into the shop yet. I bought a tow bar and installed it so hopefully I will have time to bring it to the shop soon.

Thanks for the info. Previous owner towed it like this but for a very long distance which burned the transmission. The shop is about 3 miles from the border entry so Ill probably travel 5 miles at most in towing so I probably wont disconnect the driveshaft and do N on trans and Tcase. Thanks.
