Default '99 Jimmy from BC

Hello from the great white north! Figured I'd stop lurking in the shadows trying to soak up information and introduce myself. Bought my red 2dr '99 Jimmy SLS 2 years ago with about 80k miles and a bad ABS sensor causing the light to come on and that's it. I haven't done much to it mod wise, mainly just repairs when they pop up. After lurking on here for awhile I definitely got a few ideas though.
I got my eye on another Jimmy with a blown engine to use as a parts donor and/or mod it as a pure off road rig. Unfortunately after calling the owner tonight after hearing about it second hand from someone else it turns out it's not a 99 like I was originally told but a 96. Is it still possible to use parts? I recall reading (around here most likely) 98 was a transition year for these things and somethings are possible different.

Anyways, looking forward to learning a lot from all the knowledgeable folks around here

Welcome from Utah. The 98 was the first year with a newer front end and updated interior. But 96 was the first year with the newer engine so some of the parts from that can be swapped.

Welcome from Alberta.

Like Thogert said, there's quite a few subtle differences between the 96-97, and the 98+ Blazers. Some parts can work between, but personally if you have a '99 I'd look for a 98+ parts truck. Don't give yourself the hassle of trying to figure out the differences between the model years. I've used some parts from the newer trucks on my '96 Blazer, but its only after a lot of research, and trial and error.

Thanks for the welcome and the help guys! I ended up passing on the 96 based on the answers here. I wasn't super interested in it but figured for the price it might've been a good snag if the parts worked with my 99.
