Another new guy
Hey everybody, been a member on the forum for a month or so, so I guess its time to introduce myself. My name is Jeremy, I'm 29 (getting so very very close to 30...ugh) and i am divorced with 2 kids Zachary 6 and Julianna 4. I'm a Sheriff's Officer for my County in Northwest NJ which for those no locals is the country (quite rural). I grew up working on cars with my dad who was a mechanic while he put himself through college to be a mechanical engineer. My experience with working cars has been limited to changing brakes and oil mainly up until recently as I tried to diagnose my 1996 Jimmy's front end vibration. Needless to say after a few months of changing axles, ball joints, wheel bearings etc and finally finding my front differential to be dry and smoking a bearing in that I figured I'm not too bad at this stuff and I would like to learn more. While looking for a replacement front differential I found a guy I work with looking to get rid of his 1999 Chevy Blazer because he "blew the motor". No lie, this truck looks absolutely brand new inside and out, not a scratch, not a dent... its practically perfect and with a $500 price tag I couldn't really pass it up, so today I became the proud owner of this new toy. The previous owners description of the "blow up" leads me to believe that he didnt blow the motor but more then likely has some kind of ignition system problem. Only catch is that it has been sitting for the past 3 years, but if I can get the engine running I am willing to put in this rest of the work. So thursday I will be trailering the truck home and I can start investigating. I hope it to be a good learning experience and in the end I will have a nice truck to drive. I am sure you all will be hearing alot from me over the next few months as I attempt to tap some of the wisdom I have seen on here!
