Default Front drive shaft U joint replacement question (2003zr2)

So my buddy tells me you cant change the one universal joint on the front drive shaft on a blazer (mine is a 2003 zr2) I understand there's a cv style joint but can the the u joint on the opposite side be changed?

the actual u joint yeah you can change it the cv thing by the transercase, ive never seen one go bad but you can probably have a driveshaft place cut it off and weld a new one in place
