High Caliber is on a distinguished road
Default Greetings!

Wel met forum dwellers!
I acquired a 91 Blazer 4x4, which was sold "as working" as the plow vehicle for a crazy rocky mountain property I purchased.. wanting to "get away from it all" and whatnot.

It's been 30+ years since I last grabbed a wrench and crawled under the hood of a car, the last 15 years it's just been new-leased F150s.

So as way of introduction, I'll say I wandered into this place, because OF COURSE the blazer quit on me during the very first plow, and now I'm sitting at -15C and 2 feet of snow. We're literally trapped in the house because the driveway is 1/2 mile down the mountain. Not complaining, just saying how I ended up here. I thought I should check if the firing order was even correct....and here I am.

I plan to get this ride back up and running for next winter (although it sure would be nice if I could get it fired up now), although at this point I have to have a garage built, as the house garage won't even fit a pickup, much less this thing. I figured I should sign up, as I'm sure I'll have some questions and maybe who knows additions to the forum.

I was honestly assuming the thing had normal points and fuel system, but there's wires and doodads all over it, and all of them are cut, plugged and/or taped (this vehicle was VERY neglected). So it may well be that we're just stuck here until the snow melts, hopefully the rum lasts!!

Anyway, just wanted to say "hello" to the forum. I'm a member on a few other forums, so understand manners and whatnot. Don't plan to be a problem, looking forward to bouncing ideas and problems off the membership. Having been a lifelong ford guy, I'm pretty stoked about finally getting a chevy. I've gotten addicted to the old car revival channels online (vice grip anyone?), and am impressed by how many people just rave over these engines

. The only thing I've had similar to this was a 90 5.0 mustang, although before that we souped up a '70 VW bug, almost literally died in that thing...anyway, sorry to ramble. I'll stop her as I have to go scour the sticky threads and figure out how to find the spark-maker on this thing!! Cheers!!!
