Greetings from Alaska!
Hello! My name is Matt. I live in Anchorage, Alaska but am originally from Oklahoma City, OK. I've recently been toying around with the idea of buying a Chevy S-10 Blazer 4x4. My wife and I currently own three vehicles. A 2008 Pontiac G6, a 1997 GMC Safari van (AWD), and a 1996 Chevy S-10 pickup. My wife would never let me sell her G6. I've had my S-10 for about 10 years now and it has probably been the best vehicle I've ever owned. It has 250,000 miles on it. I haven't owned the van for very long though. About four months. Since I've owned it, I've had a lot of issues with it. It's running fine now, though. I've been thinking about selling my van and getting a Blazer. It has the same engine and transmission that the Blazer has. The 4.3L and 4L60-E. Anyways, I really bought the van for me. For camping, fishing, RC airplanes, snowboarding, etc. The van seats eight people. I only have a wife and two kids though. If people come to visit me in Alaska, they usually come one at a time. For my needs, I'm thinking that the Blazer could do anything that my van could do. Maybe get a little bit better mileage too. I'm guessing that the Blazer would probably handle a little better than my big *ss van too. Similar to my S-10 anyways. Maybe I'll let you guys try to talk me into the benefits of a Blazer over my Safari van? Go!
Thanks for the replies! I'm scouring my area for a Blazer right now. I'm kind of limited due to my location. One will pop up eventually though. There are a couple in my area that I have called about but nobody ever answers. I'm pretty familiar with the 4.3 and the 4L60E transmission after doing so much work on my van. 4L60E problems are no fun and not cheap. At least if I had a problem with that same setup in a Blazer, it would be easier to work on. Working on the van is a huge PITA.
