Red Devil is on a distinguished road
Default Hello from Wisconsin

Hello everyone, I just thought I would introduce myself since I just joined. my name is Dave, most folks just call me Red. I am a 17 year old from south east Wisconsin. I joined this forum mainly because I have some questions about my truck. I have a 1983 K5 Blazer with a 6.2L diesel. It is an all options truck, built on a K10 chasiss with factory undercoating. AM/FM radio with cassette, power brakes, power steering, power windows, etc... Here is the problem: It is rusted beyond all belief and has been sitting (not running) since 2002. It has been a plow truck since new, used only on 2 parking lots so it only has 18,000 miles on it. The Wisconsin winters really ate up the body though. I was told that the injector pump is bad too. There was also a fire under the hood that burned up some wiring and insulation. I have worked on/built lots of gas engines but never any diesels so I am cluless on this. My dad is a die hard chevy fan but he thinks I should just junk the truck. What I want to know is if it is worth fixing or not and is it even worth selling? Someone did tell me 6.2L diesels were uncommon in blazers. If I do keep the truck it will be a total project. I only got it because it was a steal. Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks y'all

Welcome from Texas!
The Detroit 6.2's were actually kinda common in fullsize Chevy's back then... I have had a handful of them and found them to be decent engines as long as you aren't planning on doing any towing or heavy hauling with them.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Here are what I have for pics

Sorry for the bad pics, they are all I have right now, I will take more later. From what I have seen so far this site seems to have a lot of fans of the S10 Blazer, which is cool, but if anyone out there knows anything about K5s, I would appreciate any help they can give me. Thanks.
