Default Hi from the UK

Hi, thought I’d introduce myself. UK RHD 1999 Blazer owner here. Originally from Plymouth - the very same place that the pilgrims set off from to colonise USA -

This is my Blazer, 4.3 auto with more issues than Hilary Clinton during an election campaign.

As I learned in Thailand, looks can be deceiving 😂

she’s not too bad in reality. She was overheating and losing coolant, the stop/tail lights don’t work, the 4x4 switch/system isn’t happy and the blinkers flash persistently if locked on the fob..... but she runs and drives nice, and needs a proper clean and polish but otherwise Im pleaded with her

Welcome. This is the place to get your Blazer running well and very happily again!

As for the coolant loss, do you know from where it is happening? I mention this because there is a chance that the lower intake manifold gaskets could be failing and when they do they can dump coolant directly into the lifter valley and into the oil sump which when this gets pumped through the motor ruins the crank bearings. In short, a failing LIM gasket can cause a catastrophic failure to the engine.

One thing about the Euro-Blazers; yours had options ours in North America did not such as the headlight washers and the fender flares.

It initially looked to be the inlet manifold gasket, but since changing the water pump, it’s stopped doing it (I have the gasket here ready to change once it’s a bit warmer anyway)
