Hey fellas... My name is Dave
I live just outside of Knoxville, TN but grew up in Mississauga, Ontario

I just came across a 97 blazer LS 4dr

My car has been in the shop getting a full motor build so lately I've been looking for a new daily that will eventually be my winter beater. I am am not new to then forum world as I have been a member and moderator on the forum for my other car and have accumulated 7,000 since joining there. I'm not sure how active I will be on here as this blazer isn't really something I want to spend a whole lot of money on and make it turn into yet another project.

This blazer sat in my mother-in-laws driveway for almost 2 years. When she found out I was looking for another cheap daily driver she called me and said "if you can get it running, you can have it." so, a battery, plugs, plug wires, dist. cap, tires, ball joints and oil change later...it started right up. It has 215,000 miles and is still running great. I am not a stranger to the vortec 4.3 as I had a 2002 s-10 zr2 in HS.

I'm looking to lift this blazer and would like some advice....I am great with motors/turbos/tuning but am an absolute NEWB when it comes to lifted trucks and decent suspension stuff. I don't want to do the torsion bar/shackle thing because I think that's kind of unsafe if u want to do any real off roading... *I was thinking a 3-5" lift and MAYBE 1-2"body lift...but ofcourse will be looking to you guys for suggestions...

Again I do not want to go crazy with money on this car as I need to as a daily until my primary car is finished.

Thanks

Here is my primary car.
It WAS THE WORLDS first turbocharged dodge caliber (this was before the srt4 version came out) and now it is the fastest dodge caliber R/T.
Motor is being built to hold 25+ psi and 75 shot of spray
Hoping to be between 450-500whp when I get it back. It is a littler ricey but whatever...I like it, all that matters..haters gunna hate

What the motor used to look like (blown at 22psi)

New motor: 10.5:1 compression, closed deck, forged internals

My R1
6" stretch
75 shot
+1/-3

Appreciate it...I'm no stranger to wrenching..but if lifting this thing is going to be a big and super expensive hassle...ill probably end up keeping it the way it is...I alreadynhave a money pit vehicle...I don't need another... I just want the blazer to be a little more fun, AND to be able to get up a few of my friends' driveways...

Is it super expensive to lift these things if you do the work yourself?

Welcome from another New Yorker. If its lifting advise and ideas check the suspension thread, it is all a matter of how big you want to go.
