My blazer told me to register
Ok, I lied. My blazer didn't really tell me to register... not directly, at least. See, it's been having some problems lately that has my husband stumped so I figure I should register and see if you Blazer-savvy people can help us out.
So I guess you could say my Blazer drove me to this forum (get it?... Blazer? drive?... yea, yea, I know - don't quit my day job.
).
Our Blazer is a 2001 4wd that's been a really great car for us. Stable, reliable, decent fuel mileage... every thing you could ever want in an SUV. But now, it's got problems. It acts like it wants to start, but won't fire up (which area do I go to post about this?).
Anyway, nice to meet you all and I really hope you can help us. I'm not ready to send my Blazer to the scrappy just yet (I love that car).

sounds like a fuel pump
but its not easy to diag on the internet, your best bet is to take it to your local mechanic and have him check it out
but if you want to check yourself, run to the local parts store and get a fuel pressure test gauge. it hooks up to the shrader valve (like on a bicycle tire) under the hood right next to the upper intake plenum. good pressure i believe is around 50 to 60 psi
for a real quick test turn the key on and press on the shrader valve and if no fuel shoots out its def. a bad pump

ha ha my blazer did too! my catalytic converter is going out & i cannot get any power for speed! well, we are currently working on that. then, we will get it a full tune up - whatever that consists of. I thought I was going to have to do the CASH FOR CLUNKERS thing but I LOVE MY BLAZER & PRAY I CAN GET IT FIXED!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the warm welcomes. I knew I was doing the right thing by registering here.
(the smilies here crack me up
)
So far, he's replaced the battery, alternator, fuel pump, the distributor cap, the rotor pin and the camshaft sensor. He also messed about with the fuses, but I don't know if he replaced them or just pulled them out for a look-over. This weekend we're going to test the ignition coil and I can't think what else. After he replaced the distributor cap, rotor pin and camshaft sensor, it did fire up and he drove it about 60 miles with no problem. But then he turned off the car to have it washed and had a hard time starting it back up again. He's had it on the scanner twice now but the scanner shows nothing wrong. The only upshot to this whole thing is that he's learning to cuss in combinations I hadn't thought of yet, but that's not doing much to put my Blazer back on the road again.
LOL! That brought the coffee through the nose (look, mommy! A fountain!)
