Needed a truck, bought a project *shoots self*
Sup guys?
Just came into ownership of a 1992 s-15 Jimmy SLE 4x4 4 door with the 4.3L CPI Vortec of the time. I needed a truck for work, and at $1400 with six months on its PA inspection, this thing was less than a car payment.
Or maybe not. Here's everything I've found wrong so far:
- Front fenders hanging on by a bolt or two and a couple of sheet metal screws
- Rust straight through the rocker panels
- Rust on the underside of the doors that I'm hoping is just surface rust. (I like to be optimistic sometimes)
- The running boards are long gone
- as is the stock center console
- which means my cupholder is two rolls of gaffers tape.
- and someone installed a "limited edition" trim package that included a bunch of wooden panels
- attached using drywall screws
- The ABS controller is shot, throwing a code 62 (LF brake hydraulic failure), but ABS still engages on hard stops, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's not even leaking brake fluid or anything.
- the backup lights sometimes don't like to come on
- and sometimes like to turn off when you turn the wheel
- and the engine is throwing a code 43 (knock sensor) which I haven't had a chance to diagnose yet.
But at least the 4x4 works!
Edit: Oh, and did I mention that I've never done body work, like ever?
