Talking New Blazer owner in Canada

Hi, my name is Vic. I just joined up tonight cos i just bought a 1997 Blazer today. Definitely an impulse buy for sure. I'm going to be reading a lot of the post histories but i was just wondering if anyone could advise me on what i should be doing before i put it on the road. I'm putting in a new gas tank and a couple new front end parts next weekend. The alternator, starter and battery are all new. That's all it needs for safety so the $700cdn. i paid is looking like a good deal. I will also be changing all the fluids too. Everything works except the a/c and one rear window switch. The 4x4 seems to work well with no clunking or delay. Don't know anything about these trucks so any advise is welcome. I make my living as a diesel tech so i know a little about twistin' wrenches. Thanks for your time. Vic.

Welcome from Alberta! The most common problems on these trucks that comes to mind for me is the front end. Ball-joints, tie-rod ends, pitman & idler arms. If you come across any problems, there's a good chance that someone here has had the same problem. The community here is great for helping, as long as you've made the effort to try and search for the answers first.
