Default New to blazers =)

Just got myself a 1992 Blazer Tahoe LT...for an xbox 360, 32" tv, and $100. I thought it was worth it. Needs a lot of work, but it runs a lot better then my 93 cavalier.

I did notice I have a slight oil leak, but its coming from the external oil filter lines...wondering if other blazers like mine have the filter on the fender.

Anyways, person I bought it from didnt really tell me much, as he said he just got it before Christmas and had to sell because he was being sent to Arizona or something like that. He did tell me the 4x4 did not work.

I believe I found the actuator, the guy who had it before this guy rigged it more toward top side and used cable ties to hold in place...but the actuator seems broken...and I think theres oil coming out of it...oh well, I bought a new one.

Many many things need replace. First thing I did once I got the hood popped was checked the spark plugs. When I inspected the truck before the buy, I saw rust around the spark plugs, good indicator that they havent been changed in a while. So I bought new plugs too.

But as I was, I popped the hood, grabbed one of the boots and twisted. Kinda thought this was funny, one of the boots along with the spark plug its self twisted...one of the spark plugs was loose....(stupid people!)

Anyways, this will be a fun project for myself. Needs the back door fixed, the twist handle is broke so the back window doesnt latch. Window motors go extremely slow or dont work at all, door handles all need replaced or tightened except for one, windshield is cracked, digital display works great except I dont know how fast I am going.

But all in all...it doesnt have much surface rust...and didnt see much down below...

Oh, I guess someone replaced the fuel pump and filter at one time...instead of dropping the tank, they cut a hole in the back floor and made a floor plate (access door) for easier access.

But I am looking for parts, anything you may not need or whatever you have, please let me know. Im just glad the motor runs great and transmission shifts smooth!

Oh...my name is Curtis

Thanks from Iowa!

Bah, forgot to add it has the 4.3l Vortec.

Had a full house so I gave up my room and slept in the blazer...took about 20 minutes to fold down the back seat because the spring is broke and it latched. Slept for maybe 3 hours til I woke up cold...decided to start messing with things.

First thing that was bothering me was a vacuum leak in the air control...proabably easier to just replace it if I could find an easier way to get to it. But I have it on a setting where its not sucking air.

Right below the unit is the power mirror switch...the plug wasnt connected...it is now. And they work.

Next I tried getting the rear gate open. Someone really bent stuff up on inside to keep the rear glass door from latching...try sleeping with truck running like that. About an hour later, its open. Just need to head to junk yard and see whats out there...I know they have some blazers, I remember seeing them when I was looking for cavalier parts.

Also took out the cd player that was in it...will take hammer to it later hehe.

Still have spark plugs and 4x4 actuator to change. Will check for any vacuum leaks, fluid leaks. Need to check brakes, although I stop fine.

Now...Im going to bed for a few hours.

Welcome from Chicagoland, Curtis. Sounds like you have a good project on your hands. Do you have any pics of it?

Well actually...I really dont need the tailgate...but I do need the inards of the tailgate. Previous owner bent some stuff up inside to prevent the glass door from latching...and i dont even think its the original...since there is glass shards under tailgate carpet.

Went to check out some cars today...saw this nice saturn sc1...test drove it, liked it...so blazer got traded in....my blazer fixing days are over for now. Thanks all who pitched in with helping me troubleshoot and fix my blazer....in the end, there was too much stuff to fix...and gas is at $3.44/gal and supposed to hit $5...my new (old) 1.9l should save me a lot of fuel.

Anyone need a very nice heater control? Bought for the blazer and never installed it...it is used but all there and pretty...comes with cable also.
