Default New to the forum: 1st Gen Bravada in Colorado

Hey everyone,
I've been searching for a good 1991-94 Blazer, Jimmy, or Bravada for quite a while. About a month ago, I finally found one: a dark green 1994 Bravada. The paint isn't in the best shape, but the body is good. Only one or two small dings, and no rust. Underneath, it doesn't look more than maybe five years old. It has 184,000 miles. The engine is original, but the transmission was rebuilt about two years ago.

The previous owner bought it in 2000 with around 10,000 miles on it. He took good care of it mechanically, but never replaced the shocks or anything with the steering, so you can imagine how bouncy the ride was, and how much play there is in the steering. I replaced the shocks and idler arm a few weeks ago. I'll replace the pitman arm and tie rod ends soon.

I'll start a build thread soon.

Welcome to the forum. Were the rear spare carriers stock on the 4 doors for the 1st gens?

Yeah, it was optional. Some had the spare tire inside the trunk, and others had the external carrier.

I just finished shining up the paint with Maguiar's Ultimate Compound and Turtle Wax Ice wax.

Looks like a nice find on an older one! I personally would like to have the rear spare carrier on my 4 door.

Nice find ! Welcome to the forum. When I got mine it was in similar disrepair I am chipping away at repairs as they come. Like the Fuel pump. Ouch !! That one got me too far away from home. I started with clearing codes, then Brakes and rear line, ABS unit, all front suspension components except hubs and other odds and ends. And most recently the T/C front seal, timing chain, distributor. 201,500 Now I need a transmission, I'm hard on them ! Good luck with yours !

Thanks! I wonder if my fuel pump is going to go soon. I might just replace it for peace of mind. What was your symptom of the ABS unit needing to be replaced?

My ABS light stayed on. It is a common problem. I tried the re-solder of cold joints repair and it didn't work for me,I ended up with a salvage yard unit after getting another that could not be repaired. $150 all said and done which is still much cheaper than a new unit.

I can't help with the pressure... but did you consider upgrading the brakes if they are that bad? Maybe looking into a brembo system?
