Unhappy New Girl on the Block

Hello, My name is K.Murphy and I purchased a 2001 Chevy Blazer. I've had a few issues that I've been able to correct without asking for any help. But honestly I'm stumped..... I seriously need help please!!! I've tried talking to my "mechanic" friends but they are no help what so ever. Here's the issue.... I will be driving down the road and with no warning my truck will just die!! I lose all power (meaning the buzzer won't go off with the key in when the door opens) I have no electrical anything turn the key and nothing not even a crank or sound. I open the hood move the battery back a little (sometimes this helps and the lights come back on) other times I have to close the hood and it somehow turns everything back on, I'm then able to start the truck, but then while driving down the road it will die all over again. Also when I come to a red light idle or a stop sign it will just die as well. Its very frustrating, now I've had ppl tell me to change my battery but I know that even if the car is running you are able to disconnect the battery and the vechicle will still run. So any ideas???? I've got an interview tomorrow and really need to resolve this....

Welcome, you will get more responses to your problem if you post in the tech help area, sounds like an alternator issue or battery as well, check for corrosion and clean contacts, a step further would be to load test your battery and get your alternator tested. if that all goes ok it sounds like a short somewhere

Welcome to the forum, You might want to post your question in 2nd Gen S-series (1995-2005) Tech - Blazer Forum - Chevy Blazer Forums

You'll get more responses from people who know what they are talking about.

Your problem doesn't sound like the battery by itself, maybe your Alternator or a short in the wiring somewhere.

Gersh Dernit, Streblo!!!!! You beat me to it!

Well Streblo and CBC rained in on my parade as a staffer.

So I'll just say welcome and good luck. I'm guessing you checked your battery connections already... shaking the battery fixing your issue makes me wonder if that isn't at least adding to your problem.

I had an issue similar to this, what i found out is was the the bolts connecting the battery cables to my battery needed washers, extra nuts, or anything else to hold the cables against the battery to keep the connection. Take a look at the cables and see it they move at all, cause mine were only shifting like maybe 1/8in but it was enough to keep killing my truck.
