Hey all,
I actually joined this forum back in July of last year when I lived in Florida (which was only temporary) and was looking at buying a Blazer. Well I moved back to Northern IL (North of Chicago) and today bought myself a 2000 GMC Jimmy. Its a 2 door, 4x4, 149k miles and seems to have been very well maintained. Body is in very good condition, and with only a couple small problems seems to be a great catch.
The only problems were:
The Rear U-Joints are in HORRIBLE condition... $30 at Autozone and some of my time tomorrow, that'll be fixed.
Front pads and rotors are very worn... Already bought the Pads and Rotors and will do those tomorrow as well.
The Muffler wasn't 100% welded on and has a small leak, welding it this week.
An ABS sensor is bad which will also be fixed this week
And Last but not least, he was a smoker so the car smells of smoke... Just sprayed the car down with a Vinegar/Water mixture and put a thing of Baking Soda in the car, it should be fresh by morning![Smile](https://blazerforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The guy was asking $1500, I got it for $1300. Blue book on the car after the repairs is about $4000. The only reason he let it go for the price he did was because of the U-Joints. Nobody wanted to drive a long distance to him to buy a car they couldn't drive back. Don't get me wrong, I definitely test drove it but the U-Joints were REALLY bad to the point that I wouldn't have driven it anywhere else but directly home (9 miles) and parked it for the work to be done tomorrow.
I look forward to being an active member on the forums and talking to all of you! Maybe I'll post some pics tomorrow.
Mike
