Damn I feel like a little kid starting his first day of school, meeting his teacher and all of his classmates for the first time...I feel all giddy and shy and hell I'm 50 yrs old.
Hi everyone I have an 1985 chevy S10 pickup 2.8 l v6 carburated model and I've been doing alot of reading on this Forum but I havent noticed many 1985's or carburated model posts seems like everyones 1989 or newer.
But I have noticed alot of very useful & knowledgeable information being posted...so I know I'm in the rite place.
Thanks for letting me sign up

Rocker & Pushrod Tightening
I have 1985 chevy s10 Pup. 2wd. 2.8 L V6 Carb with hydraulic lifters I had a rattle in one of the rockers so we pulled off the valve covers and found out that one of the rockers has a hole in it so we are replacing it but in are books 1 book a Chiltons and 1 book a Haynes the Chiltons says after the lash is gone make a .75 turn more the Haynes book says after lash is gone 1.5 turns more,,would anybody happen to know which one is rite? Thats a pretty big differance
thanks knyte

Well just a little follow up on the tightening of the push rods every vehicle is a little different depending on how much wear you have on your cam, lifters, and also how much wear you have on your rockers as mine went finally after about 3 tries I had to leave mine at 0 lash and no extra turning at all, and come to find out I have 0 compression in #2 cylinder for some reason and #5 cylinder has about 133 psi and rattles terribly and neither one of them are firing and I can't seem to get the rattling out of #5 with out over tightening it, may be bent a little the rest of the cylinders seem to be fine so I'm running on 4 cyl. lol, idles a little rough but has fairly good power and runs at highway speeds just fine. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm looking for another motor...vroooooom vroooom...put...put...poof
