Talking New Member!

What's up guys, i just recently got a 1998 S10(I think, not to well known with GM, trying to learn though) Blazer LS. I got it from my uncle for $500, it had sat for a year but had regular maintenance through its time of use. I do plan on taking it off roading and having fun with it, but I need to gain some trust in it. let me know what i need to do off the rip, other than paint that can wait. Here are some pics of her.

Before i got her.

This is her currently.

First day of having her I did an oil change, new wipers and tires. Let me know what you guys think, give me ideas of what I should do!

Welcome to the forum! Browse around a bit and see what others have posted up about. Let us know if there is anything we can help with!

For as old as it is, it looks pretty darn good. Looks like a 2wd though (based on the rims) so offroading might be a bit limitied. Even so, it can be plenty of fun.

It is indeed 2wd, how limited am I? i don't really plan on mudding or super rough stuff, more like simple off road trails, driving to campsites/fishing spots. I do plan on getting kayaks though, idk if that plays a role in towing the trailer or not. Sorry if i sound dumb, very ignorant to this side of the world when it comes to trucks and suvs, whole family has always driven a car lol.

Depends on what it has for a rear axle. You could still have the G80 auto-locking rear differential which would make it more capable offroad than an open differential. It all depends on how daring you are and if your friends can get you out of situations you put yourself into. That's all part of offroading anyway regardless of 2wd/4wd, etc. All about having fun and surrounding yourself with people that can help out when needed.

Welcome to the forum. Like Swartlkk says, a 2wd is fine for trails and mild stuff, especially if you happen to have the factory locking diff (RPO code G80). You should always have a recovery plan such as friends with another vehicle in case you get stuck. Just be careful and have fun!

The best part of having a 2wd when playing off road is that when you get stuck you will be closer to pavement. Not so with a 4wd.
