Hi, just picked up a 99 blazer 4x4 last august and found your forums today. im planning quite a few mods for my truck so im excited to explore the community here and see what other people have done to theirs!!
nanaimo, vancouver island. i bought my blazer when i was over in van last summer. darylls best buys in surrey. guys a douche and his vehicles are crap but im almost finished all the repairs it needed so its almost brand new again!!!
Did you end up getting the 4 door or the 2 door? My pops lives out in Surrey not too, too far from where you got your truck.
My Jimmy won't ever be brand new, however I am working on a few little things to get it going. The size of the truck is perfect, lot's of space, on a relatively small platform (when compared to explorers and the 4 runner) and it has the size of engine I was looking for as well. My dad was selling and happened to mention that to me, I asked what size engine it was and he said a 2.8 and I was sold. I won't be towing anything, just filling it with camping gear/fishing gear and want to head down the rough roads. He said deactivation ditches are no problem because of the relatively short wheel base. Just what I wanted to hear!
I needs rear brakes done, and during the front brakes my bro and I found that the caliper mount was stripped. I'll need to replace that, however a guy who comes into my work once in a while said I might just needs the bracket and not the whole mount unit. He's a mechanic, so I'll give his suggestion a shot, that or I'll hit a pick a part and get the piece I need.
My plan is to clear up all the rust on the truck, replace the tires, windshield and eventually begin replacing the engine. It's got about 310k on it, so I don't expect it last forever. Haven't planned a lift for it yet, however when it gets new tires, they will be 31's, which I am pretty sure will fit the truck. Any good places to fish out in Nanaimo?

i got the 4 door ls 4x4 version blazer. one thing id recommend for you is to be careful when 4xing, i dinged the bottom pretty hard a couple times and ended up with some problems because the skid plate doesnt cover some of the more expensive parts to replace underneath. a friend of mine has a 95 blazer with a 4" suspension lift and i think im gonna go for that before i take it out in the bush again. as for fishing i dont really know lake or river wise but we have some great spots to fish or crab off the coast of the island if you have access to a boat
