Hello, I am new to the site and have been looking into getting myself a Blazer next year with my tax money as well as some savings, I plan to purchase a 95-2001 Blazer. I have a couple questions.
1. Which year is considered the best year between 1995-2001?
2. Any major problems to look for?
3. Any good mods for reliability?
4. Any other interesting info that might help me decide on getting a Blazer?
thanks to all.

Hi, welcome to the Blazer forum!
anyway to your questions...
1. 2001 model... Its newer and likely would have less wear and tear as a 95 model.
2. If you find one with a good drivetrain, the only thing you should look out for is the hundreds of little things. Sagging doors, broken seat levers, blown dash lights, lots of small dings, paintdamage, etc.
3. If you want it to be reliable, all you really need to do is take care of it. Cold air intakes and exhaust systems help when it comes to fuel mileage and a good exhaust system will help keep the engine bay cooler and extend the service life of the rubber hoses and such. Transmission cooler are also a good thing to put on them if you do much pulling. I used to have one, but I don't pull anymore because we have a Suburban now to take care of the pulling.
4. If you are looking for a Blazer the main thing you need to know is reasonable price. If you find a 2000 Blazer with no mods and 100k miles, you don't want to pay over 8000 for it.
Thats all I really have in the way of advice.

Thanks for your fast response, I was looking at a nice example:
97 Blazer Blue w/ Grey leather
95k miles original (carfax verified)
CD player
Fully loaded
No dents, dings or any scratches on paint.
Garage kept all its life, Cali car (no rust)
All maint. records since new
Original Owner
V6 drivetrain in very good condition.
Asking $3950 obo I plan to offer $3500 right now as that is around my budget at the moment. Good Buy or not?
I have always kept my cars up so maint. should not be a problem. I just want to know if this vehicle is a money pit like my 1995 MC Z34, just wants more and more. I was going to drop $1500 for a timing belt, valve cover gaskets, and a temp. sensor (fans don't kick in), and now I found out that when I got my tires and shocks installed the garage did not catch a bent lateral link rod (means more money). So far my MC has been good, never has left me stranded but I have a baby now and a bigger vehicle seems like a better investment.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. Blazers are dependable from what I have experienced. As long as you keep up on maintence and arent to rough on it, it should last you a long time. No reason why it shouldnt last 200,000 miles. I got mine with 125,000 miles on it 2 Mays ago and now have 138,000 and no big problems, just little things that need repairing.

3500 is a great buy for a original owner 95k mile blazer. Especially if it has been waxed often and has very few scratches or dings.
