We own a 2001 Chevy Blazer, automatic, 4W drive, has 167,000 miles on it, sat for 2 years, and is running. Have a few problems.

1. ABS and Parking Brake warning lights stay on. Mechanic says there is nothing wrong with either.
2. Extremely hard to start. Mechanic says Chevy has an issue with distributor cap. He looked at ours, nothing wrong with it.
3. Does a little "Buck" while driving. There is no specific speed this happens on.

Other than these problems, it runs like a charm.

There are several things that can go wrong with the ABS, i have your mechanic check that all the hubs are working properly..there is a thread around here that discusses how to check them. But one of the more common problems is the ECBM going bad and needing to be replaced. There is a company by the name of ModuleMaster that will rebuild them for around $150 which is a great deal.

if you want more info on the hard to start we are going to need more details. What does it do when you try to start? is it not cranking? or is it just spinning the engine without the cylinders firing...fill us in and we can help

Welcome to the forum from Canada!

does your ABS lock up at all? if so I'd check your wheel speed sensors. It's a common problem on the Blazer's where rust/corrosion gets in between the sensors and causes a bad reading. It will cause the ABS to malfunction and throw on both your ABS and park warning light.

Thank you so much for all the greetings! I love my Blazer. It sat for 2 years and is running like it did when I "parked" it two years ago! The reason I "parked" it was because it was so hard to start. We have to pump the gas about 4 times and we have a better chance of it starting. It cranks over correctly like it is going to start, but I have to keep trying. Then it will kind of "jump" like it is trying to start. When this happens, I pump the gas and can get it going. I have to time it just right, or I have to keep trying.

Your hard-start problem sounds similar to one I had. Pressure test the fuel lines. My problem was a weak fuel pump.

I have the same problem with my abs and brake lights staying on. The abs is active 24-7. Any time I use the brakes you can feel them pumping on and off quickly. On the hard to start I'd check to see that the fuel pump is in good shape and that the pressure in the lines is where it should be. Also check the fuel filter while your down there.

Oh and greetings from Charleston WV! I like seeing some good ole Mountainers on the forum

more than likely your starting problem is a bad fuel pump.
also, what do you mean by a little "buck" while driving? you talking about when the car shifts gears or?
