I'm Tim, I just bought a 2001 Blazer 4 door 4x4. Looking around for a bit of info from time to time.

Here's my adventure so far.
The truck is a 2001 blazer LT 4x4 4 door, which has about 85000 miles. Last week, while on "staycation" I bought it with "everything but the heater" working (heater core is bad). Previous owner installed an aftermarket heater on the pass. floor (apparently trying to avoid a large bill to replace the core). On the drive home, I started getting a service 4x4 light, and the a/c switch (face, floor, defrost, etc.) wasn't working. I checked out the 4x4 actuator under the battery tray, and started finding dry rotted vacuum lines.
so far I've replaced or cleaned:
Vacuum lines (all that I could find, trying to fix 4x4 issues as well as A/C blend issues)- A/C is fine now, 4x4 mostly works, need to work out some more gremlins with shifting back and forth, probably dash switches, etc.
Tcase controller- cleaned contacts
shocks (to fix wallowing over bumps)
tires upgraded from under-rated car tires to light truck 30-9.5-15 Mudders (same, plus looks) still seems to wallow a bit, but less than before.
Alternator was surging, so I replaced it, the idler roller, tensioner, and belt. just for upkeep
and cleaned and repainted the battery tray.
Inspected the underside today on a friend's lift, and found a possible dragging caliper. Brake job coming soon.
I really seem to enjoy these minor projects, seeing decent results nearly every time. I plan to eventually lift it a couple inches, and use it to haul the family and the pups around. Maybe use it for camping, or a little light off-roading.

Ahh I was thinking more south, my mom is down in George west which is about an hour south of San Antonio. I always forget just how dang big that state is!!!

 

Ok. Just had a new inner tie rod installed, with an alignment. What a difference!!! Wallow is gone!!! Then I installed the new rear brakes. The brakes had been done in 2013, but it apparently had a dragging caliper. Had some minor hesitation, along with terrible mileage. I checked the pads, and all had about 1/4 inch of meat, except the right rear was toast (all in about 5000 miles). Replaced the rear calipers and pads, and it drives SOO much better. No more hesitation, and hopefully much better mileage.

off topic, I'll be sending a load of garage door sections down to San Antonio and Harlingen Texas next week! Lol. Didn't know it got cold enough for insulated garage doors down there.
