Default rear window in tailgate won't go back up

I have an 87 blazer K5 with an electric window in the tailgate that didn't come with the truck. It was working fine till one day I put it down, now it won't go back up.

I took off the back panel and thought it was the drive cord/shaft coming from the motor that was stripped but it is on the other end of that cord under neath the window that is the problem.

I can't get the window up manualy to get at the other end of the cord to try and fix it.

any help and I would be very thankful.

Sounds like the cable has stripped out at the regulator. If you disconnect the cable from the motor and hook your drill to it, can you make the window go up?

It is stripped on the other end of the cable underneath the window
