Self-introduction, by a new fella from far away..
New to the forum having recently bought an 02 LS, 4.3, 4 door, 4wd auto, 136,000kms.
Flew to seller 780miles away, landed 5pm and met by seller at airport, drove back to his house, chatted, bought the truck started drive back home and arrived 5am following morning. Didn't miss a beat.
I had to have windows down as heater door motor was no good.
Fought the steering as was pulling to the left.
Had stereo up high as rattles were distracting.
Swapped between hi and low beams trying to find better vision at 60-70mph. Had to slightly flick driver's window down a touch to stop major rattle. Couldn't believe how cool motor ran...just under 70c.
Got used to engine light being on the whole time.
Since then (app 3weeks)
Replaced rh O2 sensor, thermostat, coolant, after 4 flushes with RO water.
Unclogged heater core..took water, compressed air, more water, reversed the hoses into which I put more water and compressed air, final got covered in mud while cleaning.
Fitted a manual heater tap in engine bay with by-pass hose.
Just completed full wheel alignment.
Stuck cardboard into console where shift lever cover joins.
Just found button on shifter **** rattles in "D" only.
Today completed hi-lo beam mod with all 4 lights on in hi-beam.
Repaired faulty earth lh brake light.
Repaired bad connection 3rd brake light.
Partially dismantled dash to find it is impossible to remove screw closest to fire wall holding down heater door actuator. (Auto climate)
The more stuff I fix on this the more I am enjoying this truck.
I have had it in sand learning about the 4wd modes and loving it.
The drive line, trans, brakes, steering, seating, instruments, music, and much more make this a fun car.
If it proves to be reliable and not too onerous to upkeep, I will pull the dash apart until I can access the parts to fix the climate control system.
I suspect that there is a vacuum controlled module in there somewhere that receives the electrical signals from the HVAC ***** that needs attention.
So, this has been my experience owning a 14 yo Blazer for the first time and am liking it.
I have been a casual visitor on the forum and liking what I am reading.
Seems like a decent community.
Hopefully I might learn something about my RHD truck and be able to share that knowledge with others, if needed...
