Default Should have found this place last year.....

Hi All,
I've a pair of S-10's, a '91 Pickup and a '98 Blazer 4x4.
The Blazer is having some 'engine' issues...
Blew the engine on the way back from Oklahoma last year out in the middle of New Mexico...seems the oil lines to the filter broke...which I learned after a rod went thru the block at 80 MPH....Long story short, I
had a 'used' motor installed at the nearest shop which lasted 11 months.
The 'transplant' was 'rejected' (with prejudice) last Tuesday (after some hefty 'fix up' bills) with what appeared to be an oil pump failure
on a trip to NorCal....So, a crate engine has been ordered and should be installed in about 3 weeks....then I can drive back up to NorCal and retrieve my poor baby.
Anyway, is there something I should know about these 4.3 V-6's that causes them to have such problems? I just can't believe that I'm that hard on them (hell, I'm 57 yrs old! lol)
I hope to learn some good information 'round here.
Thanks,
GT

Welcome from an older member in Auckland, New Zealand.

Seems you've got recurring engine issues, whilst I, on the other side of the planet, have transfer case issues! LOL

Maybe engines don't last in the northern hemisphere & t.cases don't fare well in the south! My truck is currently stranded about 5 hours drive away! AND the nearest recon shop is here in Auckland!

you should know that the oil cooler lines that flow to an d from the filter housing are notorious for breaking. you know this first hand. If you use the search function it will turn up a bunch for you to read about. there is also a "list of common annoying problems" or some such that details about 24 pages of bitching (in its base form) that if you sift through should shed light on a number of problems people have had.

Welcome to the forum.

i dunno what mine entails repair wise..but..wouldn't surprise me if my fuel system is gonna be an issue...since the whole thing doesn't work..so telling how much gas i have left is a game of epic mathematical perportions. that and the 02 sensor being replaced..a cool 500$s...its pretty bad i have to sell 3 blazers to be able to fully afford 1 lol speaking of selling..already sold the silver and red one just this morning...now the blue one need cleaned up and put up on the chopping block.
