Default Suspension Lift?

Hello, just joined the site. Looked around and checked some things out, many of ya appear to know a lot about Blazers and what not. I myself have a 2002 S-10 2dr 4wd Blazer. I have been interested in lifting it up and have checked a lot of sites out and what not. I am looking for perhaps a 2" suspension lift. I have found onemanufactured by rough country for $429. Just wondering what modificaitons would be done and if it would alter the ride quality (whether good or bad). Dont do much offroading, just looking for a lift that will beef up the appearance of my blazer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Just keep in mind I am not really mechanically inclined and do not really know much about this sort of stuff. Thanks

with the 4wd you have torrsion bars up front... by tightening the bolts you can rasie the front... im not sure how much lift you can get though. i lowered mine 3 inches by loosening them. them back you would have to get leaf spring shackles or put the axel UNDER the leaf springs... i have never lifted only lowerd but it the same principal...

With the four wheel drive blazers, you can tighten you torsion bars and put shackles or add a leafs in the rear. If you were to do an axle over in the rear like 97ss mentioned then you would get way to much lift in the rear! With tightening your torsion bars you sacrifice adjustability with chamber/ect and you also get premature wear to your ball joints. So thats where the rough country lift comes in, you get new a arms and such to where it relocates your ball joints so you have normal wear and you will still have the adjustability of the torsion bars. All depends if you want to go one the cheap with tightening front torsion bars and shackles in the rear, or spend a bit more money and get good quality by doing the rough country kit in the front and shackles in the rear, both options can give you up to a 2in lift all around. Also a 2in body lift can be done as well, and depending on your year possibly a 3inbody lift, hope that helps.

Thanks for all the help. I had also researched the body lift kit which is about $100 cheaper. Being new to this and what not, what is the difference between a body and suspension. I mean i know a body lift uses blocks and what not, but what is the difference in ride quality, performance and all that other stuff? thanks

a body lift is just that... a body lift... you put blocks inbetween the frame and body... a suspension lifts lifts the frame and the body tohether and will be better for off roading IMO... but again im a lowrider

A body lift is just pucks between your frame and body, the only effects in "ride quality" wouldbe that you would have more body roll. If you do suspension then thats when you get a difference in ride quality, it all depends on shocks, springsand thetension on your torsion bars.
