Default Woot! here considering a 77 Blazer K10 (noob)

Hi everyone! I'm a noob to this forum. I am considering a 77 Blazer K10 with a blown transmission. I can pick it up for about $250; the engine runs awesome and the body and inside are in good shape. It will still drive but reverse doesn't work. So I guess my question is should I get it and replace the tranny? And if yes then how much will a good tranny cost? Thanks for the help[sm=icon_blah.gif]

Welcome to the forum.
If you like it, get it. Prices of parts vary from area to area and country to country so I don't like to quote prices.
Check with auto wreckers for used trannys or rebuild shops for prices.
I love my old full size blazers.

If your sure everything else but the tranny is good then I say buy it. A tranny rebuild shouldn't be that costly.

Thanks guys for your replies. I'm pretty sure that I will end up getting it...I mean what's there to loose? I found a tranny off of car-part.com for only $200 so I will probably just get it or else see what it costs for a rebuild. It is painted camo right now... I will post pics as soon as I pick it up[sm=smiley20.gif].

If your buying a used tranny, best to have it gone thru. For $200, that's a core price. IMO, buy a remanufactured trans. It will cost less in the long run.

Well guys, I just made the deal. I will be picking it up tomorow. There is a local tranny shop that most guys around here use; I will probably just have them rebuild it for me. Oh, and I don't think I ever told you it is a automatic transmission.
