NX on a 91 s10 4.3.

What would the biggest shot that I could run on my 4.3?

nc95blazer 08-15-2019 06:49 PM

I'm thinking I can work up to 150 shot on a stock 4.3.

nc95blazer 08-18-2019 01:45 PM

Anyone?

Wish I could help you man, I don't know ****all about nitrous boosting though.

This is something that no one will really be able to answer without a VERY LARGE grain of salt as you have to provide useful information to assist in any kind of thought process in the matter.

Wet or dry? I wouldn't do dry on a TBI motor as it might not respond quickly enough to prevent a lean condition.

How healthy is your engine? How many miles are on the engine? If 100k+ and if you're planning on rebuilding/replacing it anyway, spray away and let us know what it holds.

Next part is the transmission...

It's a wet main line system on a tbi. The engine is very healthy and strong. Don't know the exact miles. Run like a new engine. It can run 10.3's all day long in the 1/8th at 68 mph on just motor. Tranny is a 700r4 with shift kit.

There is not a set answer of how much you can run due to many variables.
Unless you want to melt pistons, lift ring lands or blow the intake off the engine then it is not as simple as just spraying nitrous into the engine.
Upgraded Fuel pump is one of the very first consideration in order to keep up with the increased fuel demand.
You may need something such as a tune or nitrous controller to pull timing when injecting.
Stock pistons and stock components are not forgiving if something goes slightly wrong and with nitrous things can go wrong very quickly.
Also a 700r4 with just a shift kit will not respond well to nitrous without upgraded clutches and possibly an aftermarket converter.
Then you get into the nitrous itself. you will have to make sure to control bottle pressure and temperature to get a good spray.

I looked at going with nitrous for awhile on my 5.3 swap and decided against it. for my needs I'm going to go with a supercharger.

I'm thinking it will hold a 100 shot with no problems.

You can think whatever you want. i was just giving you some ideas of what is required to run nitrous correctly.

Feel free to just bolt on a basic kit and start spraying, but please let us know the outcome.

I have talked to NX and told them what I'm working with. They said that all is needed for a 100 shot is plug 2° colder than what I have now.

Going to start out at the lowest and work my way up. I know about the piston and rings, and tranny issue.

I started this thread just see what shot people are running on their 4.3.
