Supercharger prep

so looking at a supercharger install down the line... wondering what kind of work will have to go into the motor.
i know the stock motor can handle around 6psi but if i'm going to rebuild the motor, i might as well put a little bit into it just to help it out.

any suggestions?

RE: Supercharger prep

If the engine needs a rebuild then go with a set of blower/turbo pistons with the ring lands placed lower down for protection. One's that are made for the Sy/Ty application would be a good choice. I'd go with a forged for sure.
The Vortec heads you have are a perfect fit.
Look into the Marine intake or Sy/Ty intake for a long term solution for fueling.
ECU Programming with HPTuners or similar... larger injectors and a 225lr/hr fuel pump.

RE: Supercharger prep

See if FelPro offers a LocWire head gasket, ARP head studs are standard fare for force fed engines. A 3 angle valve job on the exhaust. Upgrade the ignition with an MSD box or equivelent.
The bottom end will take a beating too, again, use ARP main studs and a main support if there is one.
You'll get used to 6 psi and want to move up.
Caution! Boost is habit forming.
