Exclamation click / clank noise when i shift

i have a 2002 blazer 4 door, 4 wheel drive, when i shift up from 3rd into drive(its a automatic) there is a big clink/clank sound and all the lights in the car flicker, i know its not u-joints cause it will do it when i am sitting still and just shift gears with the car not running. really have no idea what would cause this, and would appreciate some help.

thanks for the help in advance.

this should be in the engine/transmission catagory instead of off roading

I might be wrong but I thought it could still be the u-joints even if the vehicle is not turned on and it still clunks shifting from neutral to drive.

i will check them but the only time it will do it is in between them gears, so it could be, if that is it, t would be good, cuz transmission rebuild is $1,900.

thanks for the reply
