Cool Finally Got Off Road BUT...

I had one of the worst camera men of ALL TIME. My buddy was charged with getting a few shots of me splashing through various spots of snowy off roag goodness up a mountain where it is generally acceptable to fire weapons (got 2 for christmas and had to try 'em out)

Remember, before you tear these sad shots appart for being noobish or "lame", I am the guy that until now, has only posted pictures of running over curbs...
Anyway, for your viewing pleasure:

In the turn out we set up to shoot in, there was a nice little step in the back stop. On this step, there was a wash out channel wide enough to pound a Blazer through. So what's a guy to do?

So that is a 3 shot sequence of the first of of 4 runs at this location. (BTW: those a life sized first responder pop ups (soldier, male nurse, and fire fighter we are shooting at. That way 2 dudes + something like 18 firearms x first responder targets = militia/terrorist training)

Well after stalling out in 4 Auto, I took another 2 run in 4 hi. I made it closer to the crest, each time, so i figured i could just get a running start and power over it on the 4th run....
at the end of the track leading up, it curves hard left, and you parallel a drop off. Well when making the left, instead of a gentle cresting, turn and hard drop, I slid to the left and the front tire dropped into a smaller wash out. THANK God i do not have a good SL or huge tires, because only my frame getting high centered on the edge of the ledge saved my vehicle from dropping sideways over the edge.

So with nothing but 2 tow strap (CGU1-B ratchet straps no less) i managed enough length to wrap around a knee high bush and ratchet myself back off the drop while my buddy idled back in 4 lo. WAY too close to disaster.... Then when it was free (about 15 minutes) my dumbass pal backed off the level area and slid down the entry point with the wheels cut all the way to the right. Jack ***...

Hope that was worth your time

Now those pics arn't that bad, actually looks like fun. I think that's the first time I've heard anyone be thankful for the low frames on the blazers. Glad you all and the truck are alright. Offroading and shooting guns heh. They say whatever your doing at 12 on New years is a prediction of your year to come, so looks like you're gonna have a great year. Stay safe.
