Saw a few posts on the trailer hitch mounting option. I've got a Warn VR 10,000 and tried that for a while. It'll get you out in a real pinch...but the thing is a b!t*h to lug around and use if you're stuck in deep mud or snow (full size winches aren't light). Eventually went with a winch bumper for the front. A bit more expensive, but if there's someone in your town who welds for a reasonable price they should be able to fab something up.

I just installed an el cheapo smittybilt x20 wire rope winch 8000k. The best part was mounting it on a plate that bolted to the bottom of my frame rails (1st gen T15 Jimmy) bolted the winch to the plate and run a hawse fairlead so that all you see on my truck is the hook going out to my shackle on the front.

The Winch sits on the plate just beneath the core support. That space is completely wasted otherwise and doesn't change my approach angle whatsoever.

I`m happy with mine also, I`ve had no issues with anything from harbor freight. I have a 220 volt 170 amp HF welder I`ve been using a lot for a few years now without a problem

the main reason i have a hi lift is because its cheep and reliable no wiring no motors cord nothing. I would love an electric winch but it costs way to much and if i stall or break down stuck how do you run the electric winch
