So? what are the second gen blazers really capable of?

I realize this is an old post, but no. My buddy's Rubicon makes my Zr2 look stupid. With the work I have planned, I will be able to keep up with him, but he isn't going to be replacing his front end as often as I am. I don't love jeeps, but I am realistic. The Zr2s are very capable and I love mine, but they are no rubicon, in capabilities or price.
Anyways, my Blazer pulled this guy, a full size bronco and a few jeeps out several times.

Very well put about Rubi's etc. As for pulling others out that just may be that you weren't as daring or planned things a lil better... all the same I'm sure they were glad you were there & able to help.
Personally I love "showing off" either because I can or I came more prepared & not as daring.

lol. I have my Blazer set up for winter, but I have been round Hurricane Creek over near NC/TN border. Went with my buddies in a Land Rover club, kept up with them every step of the way. Hurricane Creek aint serious wheeling, mainly trail riding with some deep spots. Every bit of what your vehicle can do is what you think it can. I worked for Jeep for years and I have seen Wranglers new and old that have gotten stuck and damaged because of a stupid owner, even as capable as they are. Yet I have never broken anything wheeling cause I know my truck and when to stop. Although, sometimes in wheeling, you just gotta push a bit past that point and hope to be pleasantly surprised. I have owned both an XJ and a V8 ZJ, and the Blazer will keep up anywhere they would go, and surpass them in many other places. All the while I am getting 23 mpg riding on 31's. Eat that. Wouldnt go back to Jeep for what I do, next vehicle is gona be one set up for AutoX anyways.

I can vouch for the S10's towing potential, as well as its longevity. I am on my third S-series, the first was an 88 S10 w/ 2.8 V6 TBI automatic, which I paid $100 for and my father still drives today. The second was a 95 S10 4.3 EFI automatic, which was given to me by my farrier after being hit by a semi and sitting for two years, and was scrapped in August 2011. My current is my 96 Blazer 2 dr, which hauls large loads regularly through the mountains of WNC. Largest load tipped the scales at 10,800 total, second largest was 8,000 total, and a regular run I do (3-4 times a year) is 7,000 total. Never lost control, and has plenty of power for everything short of hauling my old Jeep and long-haul trailer it was on. The tractor was hauled 400 miles (at 15 mpg) and the trailer it was on was hauled an additional 400 miles.
