Trip to the mounds(New pictures added!!)
Hey everyone, today i spent my sunday at the mounds in flint michigan ...i didn't take my blaZeR2 because i wanted to see what it was all about. I was in my friends jeep cherokee with 9" of lift but here are some pics...tell me what you think. i was also thinking of going up next weekend if anyone wanted to meet me up there?
Awesome s10 i saw http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5742.jpg Getting the Jeep stuck http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5680.jpg http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5681.jpg Another friends Jeep http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5686.jpg Awesome F350 http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5689.jpg Asshole's Ride http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5693.jpg Another cool Truck http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5700.jpg The aftermath http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_5747.jpg |
So, that's what vehicle you took up there... NONE! But yeah looks fun. You gonna go up and try to get stuck? lol, my truck looks like it would break down just to keep from getting stuck in there. That's awesome looking though. Looks like a great time.
|
It was insane! im just gonna make sure i go with that kid so he can pull me out if i get stuck lol
|
I just gotta ask, what made that one guy an asshole?
And that looks like a hell of a lot of fun, man! -Joe |

So now that you've seen the place how do you think us stock, non ZR2 guys will do out there?
|
Uhh yea you will fer sher get stuck lol, maybe not if your really careful but I have doubts about my blaZeR2 with 3" of lift....but if your careful you probably won't get stuck too much
|
getting stuck is the fun part
|
I did great with my stock ZR2, I just got out and probed with a stick before I went balls deep.

BlazerGuy2001 and I had a great day today. The weather was amazing, and even my stock Blazer made it through some pretty tight situations. Fun stuff, and I can't wait until July's Michigan Blazer off-road trip. I'll post pics soon.
|
That's me in the orange shirt in that one picture. In case someone asks, I'm 6'6", and yes, I sit very comfy in my Blazer. And yes, I broke something while I was out there. The front bumper where the front lisence plate sits got caught on something. And, one of my tow hooks got gouged on a rock when I was getting adventurous.
I'll get my pics up very soon. I had a problem with my computer and reloaded the operating system, so I'm partially inactive at the moment. |
Looks like it was a blast! The local OHV park around here (Turkey Bay) has been closed down due to all the rain and trail repairs. I can't wait for it to open back up, especially after seeing these photos.
|
niceeee. I am getting a membership at my local offroad park here soon
|
looks like a lot of fun. Cant wait to get out there. BTW thats a nice looking light bar you got there. lol

9 Attachment(s)
Well, here we go. This is my truck doing what it could. I think it did very good. I was very impressed.
Attachment 3486 Attachment 3487 Attachment 3488 Attachment 3489 Attachment 3490 Attachment 3491 Yeah, this kinda sucks. Oh well. Attachment 3492 Attachment 3493 This dude got a little stuck. Attachment 3494 |
Not too bad for a stock truck then? How often did you have to be pulled out? Or did you just avoid the deep stuff?
Oh and did you make it the rest of the way up that hill? |
He never got stuck just drove conservatevely lol (yea I know I killed the spelling). And neither of our blazers make it up that hill =p
|
He made it a little higher up the hill than I did, mainly due to the more rugged tires and higher suspension. There were times when I didn't think I was going to make it out of the mud, but I ended up powering through it.
|
looks like a blast guys. i will def be at the MI GTG in july no doubts about it. i just did my 2in body lift this weekend and am going up another 2 or 3in in a couple weeks. enough to put some 33s under it. check out my build thread called "96 blazer build up!"hope to see you guys out there!
|
Hey EzTech do you have any kind of locker in the rear or is it open? either way I am very impressed with the performance your truck put on.Also, just remove the front bumper lower valance and get some more aproach angle in the front.
|
It will look something like this https://blazerforum.com/forum/pictur...837360&thumb=1
|
My truck is 100% stock. At least, I think it is. I bought it used, so I'm not sure if there is anything on it that is aftermarket. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's 100% stock. Kinda sucks that I don't have lots of money to put into my rig, but, that's life, amirite?
As for the front bumper, I have a plan for that, but I don't think it'll involve taking it completely off. I might patch it up, replace it with something flexible (rubber, poly-urethane), or just get one at the junkyard and get it ruggedized. We'll see. |

I will see you all there as well! Cant wait!
|
I can't wait either. I was thinking about getting a torsion crank and 2" shackles before the July trip, but now I'm not so sure with all the talk about wear and tear on CV joints and ball joints and what-not (I've been doing my homework). Grr! So much to think about.

What did you mean by this? If you are asking about my differential, the RPO code is G80, for the positraction limited slip axle. I found out about all my codes, and I have a 3.73 ratio positrac and the 4L60-E trans. Don't know what that means, but there ya go.

The G80 in these trucks stands for the Gov-Lock automatic locking rear diff. Not really a positraction diff. :icon_wink:

G80 is better than nothing which is what has. The next mod on my list to do is a locker/posi unit of some sort. I am thinking Powertrax, just need the dredded $$$. As far as the shackel/torsion bar crank goes just don't over do it and you should be fine.
|
Oh man, if you've got the G80 AND 3.73 gears then you do have a bit of an advantage over me. Oh well hopefully I'll still have some fun in between getting stuck lol

When the other guys on the forum talk about access wear, how bad are they talking? Like, 40-50% faster wear? Or is it a lot less, like, 15-25% faster wear? I would like to get an idea on just how much faster things wear out, before I go ahead with it. |

I would like to get an idea on just how much faster things wear out, before I go ahead with it. just don't max your t-bars out that is all. i believe 1.5" is the same amount that i've seen. had a buddy cranked his all the way up. changed a cv with 2 weeks of doing that. so don't max them. |
http://www.richmondgear.com/powertrax/lockright.html This can explain it better than I can.
