I've got a 98 2 door 4x4 automatic sport utility. curious to know if anyone has removed/modified the spare tire rack on the back? its got a 3 inch body lift and I'm currently running 31x10.50x15 tires.

 

To what end result are you trying to modify the carrier for?

You can easily mount a 31" on it as it is. I installed one onto my 4 door that never came with one with a roughly 30" tire on it and there's still tons of room to go bigger. Only issue I could see is maybe starting to cover the license plate, or at least making it difficult to see...

 

My bolts are backing out and it sags real bad. I have a 31×10.50×15 on it.
