Default 98 push bar vs 97

hello everyone i am new to the forum and i just picked up a 97 blazer 4x4 last week and i love it!!

my question to the experts is regarding a push bar (or brush bar?). Its the whole bar that covers the lights and grill. i know someone who used to have a 98 and he took his bar off and said he would sell it to me cheap, now my question is;

how hard is is to modify a push bar for a 98 to fit my 97. i have a picture that i can post as well for reference.

thanks in advance!

Eric

I talked to a rep at Westinabout their Bull Bars(which are for 98+ Blazers), He said that the 98+ blazers have two holes in the bracket that surrounds the front body mount and they use them to make the mounting kit a bolt-on. He told me that I maybe able to drills holes in my pre-98 and use the kit, but he said he couldn't guarantee it would fit. Just my $.02, guess it depends on how much you are willing to do to make it work.

ok so it seems that on a brush guard for a 97 there is also brackets that you attach above your bumper as well as blow to the frame. on the 98 bar they only mount from the bottom. if someone has a 95-97 bar on their car and can post close up pics of the bottom and top brackets i can get a better idea what i would need to do. if it tuns out to be too much to do, then i guess i got a 98 bar for sale

If your has the "High & Wide package with the fender flares and all of that then you frame is wider that a stock S10/Jimmy... If that is a Westin bar, you need part #WES40-0365 which they don't cross fit from the Blazer to the Jimmy... Probably because of the openings in the lower bumper.

My Blazer happens to be a 95 two-door(non-ZR2/High&Wide) and Westin doesn't even list a fit for my year, which is the same for the '96 and '97 years. But '98 on and they make a kit. What's the difference..? Two holes in the body mount pad.

I lined my Bull Bar up and market it, and took a drill to it and, Viola, it fits!

What you have for yours though, is a brush guard. You might have to do some hacking!
