Default Adjust reear hatch fit?

My 98 top hatch door has a 3/4 inch gap at the top when closed. Is there an adjustment to bring it closer to the body? The gap allows fumes and dust into the interior.

The hatch opens and closes fine as it is but the gap is noisy and worrisome.
Thanks.

How does it have that much of a gap? Don't you have any weather stripping? Is it a 2 door or 4 door, drop gate or lift up hatch? On a drop gate there should be some adjustment on the hinges where they bolt to the vehicle. I don't think there's 3/4 of an inch worth though. There's a pretty big gap between the window and metal on my 2 door but the weather stripping seals it up.

Pics would help as I can't even picture a 3/4" gap there.
