Just bought an '84 s10 blazer and needa grill. I would like to find a phantom grill if its legal in my state (Iowa)

I don't think they are legal anywhere. How many bars you want? I'll keep a look out for one.

My grille guard goes over my head lights..

As long as the light still comes out, why is it illegal?

 

Interested if anyone knows a good legal explanation for this. It could mess up future plans...

How so. I can still see the head lights clearly, which means light would come out, just in bars. It doesn't reflect the light upwards into oncoming driver's eyes..it doesn't color the light..and if those black out shades are legal, why arnt these barred grilles?

I'm waiting on a good legal explanation as well..

 

ya i'm not sure y they would be illegal. my cousin has a similar grille on his 95 s10 pickup thats bagged and lowered and he hasnt gotten busted for it here in wisconsin. ik the old 67-69 rs camaro's had hide away headlights but when the headlight is on that section of grille in front of the light would move away.

 

Its considered to block the headlights light output. I'm sure you would be glad to know if you lived in new jersey your grille guard would get a ticket among with any of the slotted tail light covers. No legal reason but some jack*** in state goverment I don't guess liked it so they banned it. I know a few guys here that have ran phantom grilles and wasn't messed with but it depends on how the cops are and alot of times if they know its illegal.
