haha!! I keep forgetting they made these as a 5speed.

 

Assuming you have an American model with mph as the big numbers on your speedometer, you will need 6 194 Inverted LED bulbs to change the guage cluster lights. For the HVAC panel I used the other 4 inverted 194 LED bulbs and hardwired them in as there is not a good LED or regular bulb replacement available for them (size 37 is what comes in there stcok). I held mine in place by super gluing them in. You will need a loose LED for the Defroster switch though. For the other 3 switch/panels you will need loose LEDs and will have to custom mount them (ie drill holes and super glue/epoxy in). The number of LED's I used were 3 for the 4x4 switch, 2 for window wiper switch, and I think 3 for the headlight controls. Hope this helps in the mean time while I still have not written a how to on it. I have just been real busy and I am sure I have covered the info for the complete install by now, but I just havent compiled it yet into a single nice explanation (sorry bout that, eventually it will come).

 

The wiper controls are probably the easiest to get a good light spread in them, lol.

4x4 and headlight can be tricky...

I reccomend having a 12V bench power supply so you don't have to keep plugging things back into the truck, if possible.

 

Agreed, it sucks running out to your truck during the day and having to create nighttime conditions on a sunny 85 degree summer day (thats what I did).

 

after looking at this i decided it seems like a pretty sweet idea to do, so im ordering some lights off of Vleds now. will post pics when i get them installed.

 

Glad to hear we inspired you. Which bulbs are you replacing? Cause the bulbs are easy to replace, its the custom wiring that takes a little while, depending on how crazy type A you are on the wiring and the ability to take the dash apart factory like after the install.

I can't remember, lenny, did you ever get your rear defrost setup like you wanted? As in not crazy bright compared to the rest? lol.

Yeah i did. I just put the LED in at an angle and pointed towards the rear and it made it a lot less bright, so it matches up pretty good with all the other lights. Yeah I would definately go with VLEDS.com or for the loose ones I went here on ebay: OPTO_GIFT_CENTER. Hope this helps.

I still have to get around to doing the door panel controls. I am always just so busy, I get done with one thing and then have 2 more things to do. I really have to replace my drivers side front hub. Its been making noise now for like 1200 miles (I made a trip up to school and back twice now and that is 1000 miles, otherwise other city driving too in a month).

 

Anybody got updated pics of finished power window/lock controls and how you wired them. Got all the LEDs ordered and on the way.

 

Nope, never got around to them yet, probably wont be till spring break or this summer. Since I am super busy with school and work right now.
