Alright, I was looking at a truck, and the interior reeked of cigarette smoke, and had that sort of staining on the plastic surfaces. Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of, or reducing the smell, and the staining?
You know... Short of redoing the whole interior.

 

My car smelled real bad like that when i first got it i washed out the ashtray vacuumed all the carpet and put in a few of those scented tree things that hang from the rear view mirror and you can't smell it any more.
But then again my car had only been smoked in for a week or two because a friend of ours daughter drove it for a while after her dumb husband hit a pole at wal-mart parking lot. So it may take you a long time if someone has smoked in it for a long period of time.

 

Nil Odor!!! & clean/replace the ashtray, get a spray foam for the upholstery (that absorbes TONS of smells), clean what carpet floor mats you can & don't forget the head liner & then drop some Nil Odor around the interior, just a few IE 3 drops, that chit is strong!
Febreeze would work for the out of vacuuming areas, try it

 

They make de-odorizing air fresheners too. They're round and have a no smoking picture on them. Parts stores carry 'em along with everything else you'll need.

 

One of the most difficult areas to remove cigarette odors is the vent system. It usually takes about 3 weeks, spraying tons of fabreze in all the vents everyday, and running the ac/heater nonstop.

Take the seats out, and shampoo the carpets good. And do everything already mentioned. Oh, and if you can find it, 409 and a little elbow grease will remove most of the stain.

 

I had the same problem when I got my blazer I just bought some incense and burned those in the interior for awhile I figured if it was going to absorb in the material the same way the cigarette smoke did.
