Clean or replace drive shaft

Clean or replace drive shaft
My rear drive shaft is very rusty. I plan on removing it in the near future to either clean all the rust off and re-paint or get one from the junkyard that is not all rusted out. I afraid that if I clean off all the rust there might be a balance issue?
