I have had my 2000 Jimmy almost a year now and I never checked the condition of the spare. When I lowered the spare tire the holder at the end of the cable was caked on rust top & bottom. The spare was holding air but the thread was worn down. I blasted and primed/painted the spare tire holder. I also noticed that the brackets on each side that hold the bumber on were also caked on rust. I removed the bumber brackets and wire brushed them primed and painted them. Also the rear body mounts were rusted I removed them and cleaned and painted them as well. The inside of the bumber was mising some undercoating so I cleand that as well and treated with rust converter and then coated it with 3M Undercoating.
