Default Door repair HELP please!!

Ok... So I recently purchased a 96 chevy blazer, and after doing minor maintenance/ repair work, I noticed that inside of both front doors there was some concerning damage inside. I have not figured out what to call the area where the door latches onto, so i have included a few pictures...

right behind the black plate, the painted metal which it attaches to is very cracked and looks like it will break off at any time. I tried fixing the drivers side with "jb weld putty", let it dry, reattached the hardware, and after just a few times of closing the door, the dried putty has cracked.

Any help about this subject would be greatly appreciated! I have searched the internet and have not found anyone else with this problem, however seeing that it has happened to both my driver and passenger side, i cannot imagine that this is the only vehicle with this problem out there.

Thanks in advance for all of your advice!!!

Replace the hinge pins first, then have it welded.
